Accessing the main Screen

Taking apart the camera with the help of the service manual was pretty easy for the most part.

I had to take a break halfway trough because I had do order another screwdriver to reach down into the camera. None of the ones had the right tip and where long enough.

The camera from the earlier photos with the top that contains the viewfinder taken off. Both halves of the camera have cables sticking out.

The first challenging part was to pull out the ribbon cable for the backlight module. Later I figured out that it's easiest to unscrew the PCB it's connected to and pull it towards the top of the camera to make pulling out the ribbon easier.

I instead tried to pull it out with the PCB in place and ended up tearing trough two of its traces. You can't really see it on the photos, but it's there.

The back side of the camera that contains the screen and all the buttons is now taken off the main body. There are big PCBs visible both on the camera body as well as on the module that contains the screen.

Taking it apart the remaining way was easy. And before I knew It I had the LCD Panel in my hand. The back side that was baked by the florescent backlight looked even worse than the front.
